I'm in a holding pattern

Here I am sitting at my computer on a Saturday - the beginning of a WEEKEND and I don't seem to have anything to watch.  Except for the 1600 dvd movies that are in my billiard room.

What is wrong with me or is it a matter of what is wrong with TV?
I am hooked on a few shows but even those shows are pretty quiet and non-eventful.  Is it that they have been around too long or is it they really haven't got the same idea about how to write as they did a few years ago.
John and Carter - two unlikely friends.

PERSON OF INTEREST: My favourite show right now because I love the "relationship between John and Harold" - when was the last time that two people had so much respect for each other?  Who would do anything for each other.  Even Supernatural with two brothers they still have so many issues to deal with but John & Harold find that they can depend on each other and not have to "fight about it".

BEAUTY & THE BEAST: This is a one season show - whether they pick it up is neither here nor there.  It's a little series that has been a fan hit but when it comes to ratings and $$$ for the people who produce it then I don't see it lasting too much longer.  I don't like that these two have slept together because, to me, it means that it is the beginning of the end and it doesn't have the "punch" that the original series had.
Catherine & Vincent go the next step.

TOUCH:  You seriously have to consider this show on a different level than the normal people.  This is a show you have to watch carefully and consider very seriously if you really want to get involved.  I wasn't shocked it went to a second season but I am disappointed that it's gone in a new direction.  I don't like chase shows and it lost me around episode 4 so I'll still watch it but I'll watch the beginning and the end to find out what happened and then go on to another show.

ELEMENTARY:  Quite enjoyable and very interesting that I don't figure out the killer too early in the piece.  Again another interesting show and keeps me watching.

VAMPIRE DIARIES: It's been going for two years too long - time to stop now. I'm over it.

And now I've just written another couple of paragraphs and got kicked out of my computer - no matter what I do I'm left in a "HOLDING PATTERN".

Beauty & The Beast - 2012

I am a huge fan of the original Beauty and the Beast with Catherine and Vincent so when they come up with a new concept in 2012 I was loathe to check it all out - but given the opportunity to download the series I decided to give it a go.

Eight episodes in and I have to say that I have found myself quite interested in the show.   I really don't think it has a future past the first season but I have to say that the "chemistry" between Catherine and Vincent is quite interesting.  While he knows she is around it is somewhat more interesting to learn that she can feel him whenever he is around.

I love that he turns up at her apartment and sits on his window sill or actually comes into her room.

The dance in "bridesmaid up" was tasteful and yet beautiful.

Having said all that I am not very interested in the woman partner or the boss who, it looks like, slept with her partner.  I do love Vincent's co-conspirator and even the English coroner but I find the story lines rather insignificant and the background story of her mother is quite disappointing.  I'd like to think it has a future but I just can't see it.

Catherine and Vincent are delightful and as far as the relationship goes it's up there because there is no making out, no jumping into bed for sex - it's just good clean romance with a little bit of spice which is always a good combination in my book.

Give it a try - it might surprise you.

Hallmark Movies ..

Foxtel has the "Universal Channel" which incorporates Hallmark movies and for years it's been a case of we get maybe one new Hallmark Movie every 2 months but in January 2012 I finally got the opportunity to have eight movies featured - two a week for four weeks.
I was so excited because I actually collected Hallmark Promos for years especially the Christmas ones in the hopes of finally seeing them but what is disappointing is that when it got to February 2012 they have decided to re-screen the eight movies again, this time in a different order.
There are so many movies available out there but we get repeats of repeats and they are getting boring.

I have recently been on AMAZON.com and found movies that I've only dreamed of getting and decided to splurge and buy two Hallmark Movies - A soldier Love Story aka Meet My Mom and For The Love of Grace.
I had seen these movies on line and the promos are on YOUTUBE but I never thought I'd actually see them on Australian TV.
While I only ordered two I figure it is the price of one tv series in Australia and well worth the money.
Now that I've started, however, I don't think I'm going to be able to stop.  At least they have a "wish list" attached to my Amazon account and I can just pick and choose.
What is more exciting is that I have been able to find so many things like Remington Steele, Scarecrow and Mrs King etc.  Shows still not available in Australia and for that reason alone I love that we have access to purchase these kinds of things.
FOR THE LOVE OF GRACE
They complain about the internet and what we can download etc but if these were made available to us at the same time as the USA there probably wouldn't be any problems with downloads.
EXCEPT when they cost the earth.  I have been looking at getting "Castle" season 3 for quite some time but when it arrived in Australia it was $85.00 for the entire season.  A joke considering "Bones" Season 6 only cost $42.00.  I have downloaded every episode when it screened in the USA and will keep this great quality until the price of Castle comes down.  Right now it's still $75.00 - how is it that one season of a show can cost this much?  If it had come out the same week as the USA I would understand but right now in the USA the price of this season is $34.00.  I'm seriously thinking of purchasing the copy from the USA and Australia misses out again.  Who's fault is that?

There are still quite a few movies to come out on DVD and I shall continue to tape these and wait for them but it's fun and frankly considering what they're showing on TV right now I am more than happy to wait for the silly, soppy, not academy award winning performances but just a good wholesome sappy love story.

Old Christmas Songs give way to new ones

I am so over old Christmas standards.... Silent Night, Little Drummer Boy even O Holy Night.  Give me new ones and as always ones that have the meaning of love in them.

I am SOOOO Loving "Mistletoe" by Justin Bieber right now and the video clip I play over and over again.  A song with a story at Christmas time, what more can a romantic like me ask for?

Christmas has become so very commercial.  I know Christmas is all about the unholy dollar and in 2011 a dollar doesn't go anywhere anymore but I love the idea of spending time with people whether they be family, friends or someone special and knowing that you are enjoying the time you have together.

My favourite Christmas album is N'Sync's "Home For Christmas" out of 15 songs only 3 of them are old standards and I enjoy listening to this album minus the old crappy hymns.

I'm not saying they are terrible just that they have been done to death by every known singer and it's nice when they come up with a lot more new ones.

The same can be said for Christmas movies.  America churn them out every year for the Hallmark Channel and yet here in Australia we get the old standards of Holiday Inn, It's a Wonderful Life, Miracle on 34th Street and Scrooged.  But when it comes to new movies we are lucky to get one and most of the time they end up being screened in July.

I love watching TV at Christmas but what I do is try and locate a whole heap of enjoyable and romantic movies from my collection or download them and watch these rather than depend of TV Stations in Australia to give us what we don't want.

Let's  complain now and maybe we'll get what we are looking for - a time of eating, enjoying people's company and being with the people we love at this special time of the year.

I love quotations...

It is always great to me when you find something that makes you stop and think and this moment from "LETTERS TO JULIET" makes me do just that.

"Dear Claire

What and If are two words as non threatening as words can be but put them together side by side and they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life – what if – what if!!  WHAT IF?  I don’t know how your story ended but if what you felt then was true love then its never too late – if it was true then why wouldn’t it be true now?  You need only the courage to follow your heart.  I don’t know what a love like Juliet’s feels like LOVE TO LEAVE LOVED ONES FOR, LOVE TO CROSS OCEANS FOR but I’d like to believe if I ever were to feel it that I’d have the courage to seize it and Claire if you didn’t I hope one day you will.

All my love Juliet. "

Have a great day!
