Thank you

Thank you

I've got something to say

I am a plus sized woman who actually buys clothes from the men's department of stores 1) coz it has more variety than the women's department; 2) it's 3 times cheaper than the women's dept and 3) because they fit.
I've just had a breast reduction and while I'm still a size 18 I've gone from a G cup to a B cup in a matter of hours.  What does this mean?  It means that things fit me - I don't have to buy a 22 to fit around my boobs.  I no longer have to sew the front so that the buttons don't open on their own or gape.  I might even get the opportunity to wear a dress for the first time in 30 years.

What I really find offensive though is that when you go into stores with PLUS SIZES the designs are nothing like for a size 8 - 16?  Instead of the pretty pink or perky peach I'm subjected to black and white stripes (going the wrong way to make me look even bigger) or a combination of many colours with a very low neck (not my style) and sleeveless which doesn't hide my "overhang".  Why can't that pretty pink or perky peach go up to a size 26?  What you couldn't find enough material?  While I understand big is beautiful and it's exciting to wear colour if you want to be like every one else why can't you dress like everyone else?  Give me a pale green or pale blue in a size 18 and maybe we can talk.
Going on line is obviously the way to go but I'm scared that it won't fit and the thought of packaging things up and returning them only to wait to get the right size is something I don't want to do.  I've already bought two things on line and both had to be returned - I don't want to go for three.  BUT if I want to look like a professional I'm going to have to go out on a limb and experiment to ensure that my look suits me and makes me feel comfortable.

My only option I believe is to take a couple of sewing courses and make my own clothes, I can choose the design and the pattern to my own specifications.  PROBLEM:  I hate sewing!

So I'm stuck with lots of bad options and not a lot of good ones.
